Steve, Creepy and I waited nervously in the tent as Skelee and Slimey headed over to Principal Hogskins’ place for STAGE ONE of Steve’s plan.

‘Can Skelee do this?’ Steve asked Creepy and me.

We looked at each other.

‘Well, he has done pretty well in drama class—’

DING, DONG.

The sound of the doorbell crackled through our walkie-talkie, then came Slimey’s voice.

‘Okay, I’m in position. Ready to enter and recover the controller as soon as the distraction is a go. Is it bad that I can hear Skelee’s BONES RATTLING, over?’ he whispered through the speaker. He was hiding around the side of the house with the walkie-talkie, so we could all hear what was happening.

‘Probably, over,’ replied Steve.

I squinted. Slimey was right. Skelee was shaking so much it looked like he was being played on 144P RESOLUTION. Oh man, this was bad…

The door swung open and—

‘MILK!’ shouted Skelee. His voice was so loud that we didn’t even need the walkie-talkie to hear him from across the road.

Principal Hogskins jumped. Man, her ears must be ringing like crazy.

‘Oh, you’re the milkman. Umm… what type of milk do you have?’ she asked.

‘UH, MOOSHROOM MILK,’ screeched Skelee. ‘COME AND SEE!’

We were DOOMED. If the shouting hadn’t given away how nervous Skelee was, that silly answer would.
